The TOTA Training Centre team hosted an Industry Info Session to prepare employers for the Job Fair & Open House. In the session, we explained the Tourism Skills Training Program, reviewed the schedule, and discussed the virtual format, including Zoom Meetings basic features and a demonstration of the Zoom breakout rooms for employers.

8:30 AM - 9:00 AM: Checkin & Setup
9:00 AM - 9:30 AM: Welcome and Introduction with TOTA Acting CEO Ellen Walker-Matthews, UVIC Professor Christian Van Buskirk, employer representatives, facilitators and participants (candidates)
9:30am - 12:30pm: Employer/candidates 1-1 screenings in breakout rooms, by appointment
- 10:45 AM: Coffee break
1:00pm - 3:45pm: Open House event with tourism employers, candidates and facilitators networking in each breakout room

Next Steps

Before the day of, please ensure your Zoom Meetings app is up to date with the latest version and familiarize yourself with the features and audio/video settings. We recommend setting up your computer in a quiet location with neutral background and appropriate lighting.

How to Update Zoom Desktop App

This will enable you to use all the latest features and we can easily help you if there are any challenges.

a) If you do not have the Zoom Desktop App, download the Zoom Client for Meetings to your computer. Sign in to Zoom desktop client (accessed from the Start menu or App tray).

b) If you have the Zoom Desktop App installed, you can check for updates by:

Sign in to Zoom desktop client (accessed from the Start menu or App tray).
Click your profile picture in the top right corner then click Check for Updates.
If there is a newer version, Zoom will download and install it. Familiarize yourself with the new features.
