Eve Layman
Eve Layman is a passionate advocate for sustainable tourism. In her role of Destination Development and Stewardship Specialist since 2021, Eve spearheaded the development of TOTA's Climate Action Plan as part of the commitment to the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism. Eve works to support tourism businesses to adopt sustainability initiatives and drive climate action, guided by the Biosphere Sustainable Tourism Certification Platform. As well, Eve completes TOTA’s annual Biosphere Destination Gold audit and is the Chair of TOTA’s internal working group, which implements company policies aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
With a background in community relations, program facilitation, and outdoor education, Eve has worked with organizations like the Central Okanagan Early Years Partnership for 14 years and the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation. Eve has always held an interest in reducing impacts on the planet, leading her to complete a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies from the University of Victoria.
Eve has a personal interest in sustainability and reducing impact on the planet, including the completion of a fossil fuel free home and working towards a zero emission lifestyle.
