Mandi Carroll, Westbank First Nation
Westbank | Central Okanagan
Other: Community
As an integral part of Westbank First Nation's Senior Leadership Team for over 10 years, Mandi aims to strengthen the local and regional economy and build upon its strong reputation as a tourism and investment destination. Mandi hopes to further integrate Indigenous people and businesses within the Thompson Okanagan’s tourism sector through its Member, business and stakeholder connections. Mandi’s relationship with the Indigenous community, its artists, businesses, linguists, knowledge-keepers, Economic Development Commission, and Public Arts Committee are also invaluable towards this end.
Mandi has worked closely with TOTA as a partner and supporter of the tourism industry for several years, including partnering on the 2019 International Indigenous Tourism Conference held locally as well as working with TOTA’s Board and CEO to draft a Memorandum of Understanding between TOTA and WFN. The organizations' common focus is to create employment, education, and awareness of the many opportunities for the Indigenous Tourism industry.
With a history rich in culture and tradition, Westbank First Nation (WFN) proudly remains one of the most progressive, culturally-rich, and financially independent Indigenous self-governing communities in Canada or North America.
