Eco Efficiency Excellence Award
Leaders in energy efficiency, water and waste management
Award Criteria
The Eco Efficiency Excellence Award, in partnership with GreenStep Solutions, recognizes organizations that have demonstrated excellence in managing environmental impacts, particularly in energy efficiency and sustainable management of waste and water. This award was established in 2020 by the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association and is bestowed upon tourism businesses in the Thompson Okanagan region. The winner demonstrates outstanding participation and implementation of the Eco Efficiency Program and Energy Assessments.
Examples of eligible initiatives include:
Eco-efficiency plans, projects or studies that leverage the current and advanced technologies as well as best practices in sustainability
Projects that focus on energy recovery, energy conservation, energy efficiency, or renewable energy
Projects that focus on water efficiency
Reuse or recycling programs
Educational programs that focus on staff and customer engagement in sustainable energy, water, and waste management best practices
Entries should also identify wider economic, social or environmental benefits to the organization or community which have arisen from the participation of the Eco Efficiency Program or Energy Assessments.
Eligibility
Only projects/programs that are already implemented will be considered. Those in the design phase will not be considered.
Submissions must be related to the period between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.
This award is open to all tourism businesses in the Thompson Okanagan region.
Award Schedule
Awards may be submitted at any time throughout the year. In order to be eligible for the current calendar year, submissions must be finalized by December 1st. Any submissions received after December 1 will be placed under consideration for the next year's awards.
Review of award submissions: December 1st - December 15th
Winner Selection - December 15th - 30th
Award winners announced: January of the following year
Entry Process
2020: The winner is chosen collaboratively between Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association and GreenStep staff who work with Eco Efficiency Program and Energy Assessment participants across the region.
2021 onward: By nomination (Including self-nomination)
There is no entry fee for this award.
