Award Criteria
The global pandemic and travel restrictions in 2020 largely affected the way we think about travel, tourism and sustainable development. 2022 is an opportunity to rethink how we travel, be innovative in tourism management, build sustainable tourism models and create the right partnerships.
As a new award developed in 2021, the Pioneer award honours fresh ideas and new solutions to sustainable tourism development that thrive to improve the Thompson Okanagan community as a whole.
This award recognizes an individual who has made pioneering efforts in but not limited to
Sustainable products, services and experiences
Tourism resiliency and crisis management
Innovative sustainable projects
Creative marketing campaigns
Sustainable development goals
Accessibility
Indigenous communities development
Eligibility
Submissions must be related to the period of Jan 1st, 2022 and Dec 31st 2022.
This award is open to all pioneering efforts in the Thompson Okanagan Region.
Award Schedule
Awards may be submitted at any time throughout the year. In order to be eligible for the current calendar year, submissions must be finalized by December 1st. Any submissions received after December 1st shall be placed under consideration for the next year's awards.
Award Submissions review: December 1st - December 15th
Awards Commission: Review and Winner Selection - December 15th - 30th
Award Winners Announced: Next year January.
